And Some Lovers

and some lovers were best to part
than shoving blood through weeping heart
some smiles are destined to fade
some elbows have it made
some colors lose a shade
some dues are well over-paid
some chuckles come from the stomach
some come from the chin
some fingers long for the touch
of smooth, silky skin
and puffy lips all in a huff
and turnip eyes all aglaze
wrinkled noses full of snuff
a sober mind all adaze
the conscience, on the heart it weighs
and planted in the darkened maze
the silver tree no longer sways
the playful heart no longer plays
